'Materiality is at the forefront of my drawings. Materiality is the material of which an object is made from, in my practice this ranges from ice-cream to the material of paper itself. I utilise observational drawing as a foundation to fragment and abstract familiar objects.
Hito Steyerl’s poor image is a digital image which has been glitched and bruised over time because of its mass circulation. My practice intends to visualise the poor image in a tacit form so that its conceptual meanings can emerge. In my drawing, I cut and tear the paper to splice the freeze-dried ice cream towers which symbolise bodies. The metaphorical body is subject to a visual decay, the fringing of the paper moving when people walk past.'
